is an official program of the U.S. Department of Defense

Bleeding stands as the leading cause of death following a traumatic injury. As responsible boaters, it’s natural to want to be prepared for emergencies on or off the water. As a trauma nurse, I’ve witnessed numerous patients who recovered well due to prompt control of bleeding. Conversely, I’ve also seen poor outcomes when immediate action was lacking after an accident. The American College of Surgeons offers online and in-person Stop the Bleed courses.
