2025 AGM LYC Recap- Steering Ahead Together
A large gathering of Liberty Yacht Club members convened at Liberty Prime in Jersey city on April 2nd for the annual AGM to elect new officers and learn about the exciting plans for the upcoming season. Greg Kyle as chair of the board of Governors gave remarks on behalf of his team and welcomed new board member David Spence. Greg also presented the officer slate on behalf of Steven Crane, chair of the nominating committee. He thanked nominating committee members for their service; Jim Chambers, Rick Holl, Marc DeSouter and Whitney Bodman. The following Executive Officers were elected:
Commodore- Caroline Kornutik - 2nd and final terms in this role
Secretary- Rachel Ryll - 2nd and final terms in this role
Treasurer- Barry Toubin- 2nd and final terms in this role
Vice Commodore- Nitzan Levy
Rear Commodore- Rosetta PalmeriThe following general officers were appointed:

Port Captain - seeking a volunteer - please contact us for more information During the meeting, our Commodore Caroline Kornutik reviewed the club's goals and objectives which are to continue to grow LYC recognition in the greater NY/NJ area, host more robust member events and increase member volunteerism. Its our club and needs your input and time to be successful. Also creating committees to engage members and cultivate future club leaders. She reviewed our commitment to improved communications. We now have a whats app group which members can opt into. The budget was reviewed by our treasurer Barry Toubin. The club is financially healthy thanks to his stewardship. Our Fleet Captain Ed reviewed the plans for flotillas this summer. Please sign up to take the lead on one of these flotillas this summer - info@libertyyachtclub.org. Also a new challenge for you competitive types- an award for the most yacht clubs visited. Check out the website for details. Outgoing Race Director and Vice Commodore David Spence presented the Racing calendar. The racing season starts its first practice race on April 30th. It will be a full and fun season. On land events were presented by Secretary Rachel Ryll on behalf of Rear Commodore Rosetta Palmeri- 1st event LLM vendor spotlight with LYC member open house. Membership Director Amanda Roman reported a healthy membership base of 140 members approx. New members who in attendance were presented with burgees at the meeting.Congratulations:

A special shout out to all our member volunteers who helped to make this event such a success: Amanda Kortbawi, Virginia Malik, Jessica Zimmer, Anthony Marques, Rachel Ryll, Nitzan Levy and Caroline Kornutik for assistance on the day. What a team. The evening ended with some fun door prizes, great conversation as members reconnected and excitement for the boating season ahead.
