In a nutshell

Destination: St. Martin

Dates: Sat Jan 28 - Sat Feb 4, 2023

Who can join: On a shared boat: Members and their partners/+1. On private boats: Members' choice of crew

What: Enjoy living aboard and cruising a luxurious sailboat (monohulls and catamarans under 4 y/o) in the Caribbean sea. Enjoy the company of fellow LYC members, make new friends, lifetime memories, enhance your sailing skills and learn new life skills. And on top of it all - the Caribbean weather - with 75-80F and a nice steady north-easterly breeze (while temperatures back home in the North East will be around 20-30F...).

Flights: Direct flights with United and JetBlue are available daily from EWR to Princess Julianna International Airport (SXM). Flight duration: 4 hours. Prices: $480-$680 (as of June 2022)

The Itinerary

Mardis de Grand Case Carnival

The following is a skeleton Itinerary and is subject to changes before and during the trip:

  • Check in day Sat 1/28 – Arrive in Marina del Anse Marcel in St. Martin, check in to the boat and enjoy a dinner at a local restaurant

  • Sun 1/29  – Sail to to Anguilla - 15NM. Arrive at Sandy Island in the late afternoon and clear in. Evening anchor at Road Bay 

  • Mon 1/30  – “Lay Day” in and around Anguilla - option to go diving (must go through a local dive shop) or snorkeling in Prickly Pear Cays - 4NM NW of Road Bay, land excursions on the main island that features exquisite white beaches.

  • Tue 1/31  – Sail back to St. Martin - clear back into St. Martin at Marigot - which would be a 12NM trip, tour Marigot - a nice town that is the capital of the French St. Martin. Walk through the picturesque town, its market and hike up to Fort Louis located on a hill overlooking the Marigot Bay and Anguilla. In the late afternoon - sail over to Grand Case - located about 5NM NE of Marigot. Evening - enjoy the Mardis de Grand Case Carnival.

  • Wed 2/1 - depart Grand Case early and sail 25NM - around north St. Martin and then down SE to Gustavia - St. Barths.

  • Thursday 2/2 - "Lay Day” in St. Barths - hikes, taste (and buy!) the renowned R St. Barths rum, gorgeous beaches and more. 

  • Fri 2/3 – depart St. Barths to Ile Tintamarre - east of Orient Bay - on the NE side of St. Martin - 15NM. Stop for lunch followed by an afternoon swim and snorkel. Subject to charter company’s approval - sail to Orient Bay for the evening (about 4NM to the west) and overnight anchoring. Alternatively - if needed - sail back to Anse Marcel (5NM west of Ile Tintamarre) and spend the last night back the Dream Yacht Charter marina.

  • Sat 2/4 - Morning - by 10am - disembark boats.
