The Liberty Yacht Club welcomes visitors cruising through the
area. We are located in Jersey City, NJ at
Liberty State Park
directly across the Hudson River from Lower Manhattan. We'll be
happy to show you around, help you provision your boat and find the
nearest happy hour. Our address is
80 Audrey Zapp Drive,
Jersey City, NJ 07304. Contact us at 973-714-4973
or by Email.
Liberty Landing Marina,
home to the Liberty Yacht Club, is a full service marina offering
all fuels, transient dockage, a pump-out
station, a service yard, laundry
facilities, showers, and ferry service to
Manhattan. The floating-pier slips have water and electric service. Contact the marina at 201-985-8000,
VHF channel 72 or
by
Email. |

Whether cruising down the Hudson River from the north, the East
River from Long Island Sound, or approaching from the Lower Bay,
once you see the Statue of Liberty, Ellis
Island, Governor's Island and the familiar skyline of Lower
Manhattan, you are just minutes from the Liberty Yacht Club. At
green can #1, head west into the Morris Canal. On your port
side you will see the decommissioned light ship
Winter Quarter, also known as the "Big Red Boat" which serves as
the marina office.
The fuel dock is also on your port side. You can hail the marina staff on channel 72
(or call 201-985-8000) for docking assistance.
While
cruising the harbor and taking in the sights, there are a few things to keep
in mind. Always keep a watch out for large commercial traffic and
barges in tow; they should be given full right of way. You can communicate
with commercial traffic on channel 13. Also be aware
that debris in the water, both floating and submerged (sometimes the size of a telephone pole) is not uncommon.
Security zones are established by the Coast Guard around
landmarks and other structures, e.g. no vessels are allowed
within 150 yards of Liberty Island or Ellis Island. For details
about these and other restricted zones around New York City, consult
the Coast Guard
Local Notice to Mariners. And if you notice anything suspicious, please call America's Waterway Watch
program at 877-24-WATCH. |

The small building on the fuel dock has some
charts & supplies. The Service
Department at the west end of the canal stocks a large inventory of
parts & supplies and probably has what you need for your boat,
along with service personnel to assist.
Otherwise, there is a West Marine in New York City (12 W 37th St,
